Exposing our islands to a bigger audience

wynnum_visit_5.5.15sThe SMBI Tourism Board and the Bay Islands Chamber of Commerce are both concentrating on increasing the amount of exposure our islands have to tourism.

Petrae McLean of the SMBI Tourism Board says “The famile’ the SMBI Tourism Board put together for Heather McWhinney, Editor of BNE Magazine has been VERY rewarding, providing some excellent tourism exposure for our islands. She particularly asked to interview our artists and view our top quality accomodation etc, which is exactly what we organised.  The magazine has been in the domestic and international terminals for the past week and a half.” The electronic version is now available online at http://www.bne.com.au/files/bne/BNE_Magazine_Issue_08/#24

Members of the Bay Islands Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a group of volunteers from Wynnum Manly Information Centre. On Macleay, their tour of the island included a visit to the Arts Complex, Tingira Boat Club and lunch at Club Macleay. Several B&Bs were visited including Yarrandabbi Dreaming and Licorice Cottage, one of the Curious Cottage group. An article on this visit can be seen in the latest Southern Bay Island News.
