Library

The Macleay Island Library is a community library managed by the M.I.Progress Association and is situated in the grounds of the association in Russell Terrace, Macleay Island. It is open Mondays 9am – 5pm, Tuesdays 9am – 4pm, Thursdays 9am – 4pm  and Saturdays from 9am – 12 noon. Phone 3409 4243.

The majority of books and other items have been generously donated by the local community, Seaview Times, Bayside Bulletin and Books n Art.

Finance for daily operation of the library, equipment, new books and ongoing improvements is obtained from fund raising by the “ Friends of the Library “ and an annual grant from Redland City Council.

The “Friends of the Library” are a group of volunteers who fundraise and assist the staff with various tasks such as cataloguing, ticketing and sorting.

Book readings for school children and pre-school children are held throughout the year.

Although this is not a council library, some of RCC library services can be accessed through the M.I.Library. Staff can organize memberships to RCC Libraries and request items for members. RCC library services provide a rotation of books etc every three months. There is also a computer available for public use.
