Alcheringa is the aboriginal name given to Macleay Island and literally means "dream-time Island"or "place of dreaming". Alcheringa Cottage is the perfect escape for couples and small families, so close to Brisbane. An enjoyable 40 min barge trip from Redland Bay will see you arrive at the southern end of the island followed by a five minute drive northward.

A friendly kookaburra might join you on your deck.

The timber cottage was recently renovated, with new kitchen and bathroom. It has a deep soaker bath for the girls to unwind in and a large deck out back with gas BBQ for the guys. The house is fully airconditioned to keep you comfortable all year round, while the open plan living area boasts a chaise lounge and new LCD TV with DVD player.

Kick-back in total privacy with a cold drink or go exploring down at the beach or along the heritage trail - the choice is yours!

Macleay Island Bowls Club is situated at the end of the street, with meals available most nights and entertainment most weekends.
